The Surf
Fun waves all through the Main Beach stretch from the artificial reef at Narrowneck to the Sand pumping jetty at the spit. The sandbanks are always changing and you can always find a wave here.

The Surf
Surfers Paradise is the main tourism stretch of beach on the Gold Coast, waves are always changing and it really depends on the every changing sandbanks as to the quality of the surf. The surf is generally best in the early morning before the wind pick ups, the ideal winds is from the west to north west and between 1 to 3 ft of swell.

Where do you start… There’s heaps to do in Surfers Paradise but No.1 is go to the beach, visit one of the many amusements, shopping, stand up paddle at Budds Beach, learn to surf, hang out in Cavill Mall, party, the Q1 skywalk is cool, rent an electric skateboard, scooter or surfboard and get amongst it.

Broadbeach is an open beach break that has waves all year round. Located in the middle of the Gold Coast broadbeach is exposed to the onshore winds but sandbanks regularly build up in the area and nice waves can be found, usually best during the morning before the wind kicks in. Predominately the surf will be best with an incoming mid tide when the swell is around 2/3 feet and the winds are coming from the North West to South West.

Broadbeach is one of the most popular places to stay on the Gold Coast because of its central location and huge range of accommodation. Whether you are on a family holiday or visiting for a convention you can choose from Hotels such as Meriton, Peppers and Sofitel or take your pick from the small resort style complexes or the huge skyscrapers that tower over the beach.

Burleigh Heads provides one of the best waves on the Gold Coast. A nice right hand point break that can hold a larger swell and provide deep barrels, workable faces and long rides. Burleigh Point is protected from the southerly winds and can provide fun waves throughout the whole day, one the bigger days the take off point is at the cove positioned at the top of the headland but on smaller days the inside rock break can provide some fun waves. Expect a local crowd and a lot of paddling.

Burleigh heads is becoming one of the hot spots of the Gold Coast and is very popular with holiday makers. Accommodation ranges from Tourist park camping and cabins across the road from the beach, to high rises, villas, luxury holiday homes and older style budget holiday accommodation. Most accommodation in Burleigh Heads is within walking distance to the beach and the Burleigh shops and cafes.

Burleigh Heads is fast becoming a trendy cafe and restaurant hot spot, with a great mix of cool new bars, stylish fine dining restaurants, cafes, pizza and tapas bars. Plus a great selection of takeaway snack bars, fish and chips and the surf club and bowls club providing cheaper options.
Things To Do
Burleigh Heads is a great place to stay because of the great range of things to do in the local area. Surfing the point and hanging out at the beach are the obvious choices, however a morning walk through the headland national park is a great experience, try stand up paddle boarding at tallebudgera, walk, ride or skate along the ocean way to North Burleigh and check out the view from Miami Headland. If you want to relax, have a massage, facial or yoga session or simply do some shopping in the trendy James Street shop.
